Seton Medical Center Harker Heights Laboratory improves patient care by providing safe, on-site testing for any disease or condition. The latest technology allows us to make test results quickly available to all appropriate staff, in a strictly controlled secure manner. Our lab services are fully accredited and licensed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Joint Commission. We provide clinical and pathology services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Board-certified pathologists oversee all aspects of our laboratory operation. The Laboratory provides services in all subspecialties of laboratory medicine including: Transfusion Medicine Microbiology Hematology Clinical Chemistry Anatomical Pathology The Laboratory also coordinate and have oversight over all POCT (point-of-care-testing) that is done in the Hospital. Medical laboratory scientists, also known as medical technologists or MTs, hold at least a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology and must be certified by passing a national accreditation exam. Medical laboratory technicians hold at least an associate’s degree in Laboratory Science and must be certified by passing a national accreditation exam.
