Seton Medical Center Harker Heights Achieves Elite National Status as a Straight ‘A’ for Patient Safety

HARKER HEIGHTS, TX (NOVEMBER 19, 2024) – Seton Medical Center Harker Heights was awarded an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for the 9th consecutive time by The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit upholding the standard of excellence in patient safety in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers.  Seton Harker Heights is one of only 192 hospitals nationwide to earn 9 consecutive ‘A’s’ in a row.

”Straight A status reflects our team’s commitment over the last five years to providing exceptional care to every patient, every day at Seton Harker Heights,” said Patrick Swindle, CEO of Seton Medical Center Harker Heights. “We are only one of 20 hospitals in Texas to receive this prestigious award.  I am extremely proud of our caregivers and their commitment to providing exceptional care in our community.”

The Leapfrog Group assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals nationwide based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

“Everyone who works and volunteers at Seton Medical Center Harker Heights should take immense pride in this accomplishment,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I commend Seton Medical Center Harker Heights for your unwavering dedication to prioritizing patients which is evident in your consistent achievement of an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, injuries and infections that can lead to harm or even death. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
